SEALS and gaskets maker Flexitallic is to export its products to Ireland for the first time following a new deal.

The Cleckheaton-based engineering US-owned company, which employs 250 people, is extending its distribution through an agreement with Teschem, a Cork-based precision gaskets and fluid sealing products maker.

Teschem has secured the rights to stock Flexitallic’s full range of products, including gaskets capable of withstanding temperatures up to 982°c.

Teschem serves the chemical, pharmaceutical, power, original equipment manufacturing and utilities sectors. The deal has enabled it to extend its product offering to local and international businesses.

Flexitallic has been at the forefront of the gasket and sealing industry since 1912 when the company invented the spiral would gasket.

It specialises in products designed to operate in harsh industrial conditions

Last year it completed a 12-month continuous improvement programme of its manufacturing operations which significantly improved quality and efficiency and created new jobs to drive lean manufacturing and reduce waste.

As well as directly supplying customers in the oil and gas, chemical, nuclear, power generation and OEM sectors, Flexitallic operates a network of distributors across the UK and around the world.

Sam Bradley, Flexitallic UK sales manager, said: “The agreement with Teschem represents a significant milestone in our effort to create and maintain a global distribution network. It has enabled us to establish a physical presence in Ireland and will help raise the profile of Flexitallic.

“Businesses that require access to high-quality sealing solutions will benefit a great deal from this partnership as it will bring what are arguably some of the best products in the market to their doorstep.”

Sean Wyse, Teschem managing director, added: “We have developed a successful relationship with Flexitallic and now expect to enjoy an even closer relationship and continue the promotion and selling of the innovative gaskets, being developed and produced by Flexitallic”
