AWARD-winning Bradford Brewery is marking its first anniversary by announcing plans for further expansion.

The company, which reintroduced brewing to Bradford city centre, is part of a partnership hoping to renovate the former New Pack Horse pub on Westgate, which has been closed for 15 years.

The venue will be reinvented as Westgate Social Club, staging regular activities to provide a community hub in the tradition of social clubs in the past but in a contemporary setting .

As well as Bradford Brewery beers, it will offer an American-influenced menu, first floor function room and roof terrace area with DJs and live music providing the entertainment until 5am, five nights a week.

Westgate Social Club will be Bradford Brewery's second permanent venue in the city and is due to open in the spring .

Plans are also underway to transform an empty building in Saltaire village into a delicatessen and beer house in an undisclosed site this spring.

Following the success of Bradford Brewery's pop-up bar in The Broadway shopping centre, which attracted 10,000 customers over 12 weeks, The Made of Bradford bar and bottle shop will be reopening in a different city centre location. Terms are currently being agreed and the outlet selling beer, Bradford souvenirs and gift packs will reopen in March. The location will be announced soon.

During its first year Bradford Brewery produced 32,000 pints of 20 different beers which are supplied to venues all in England, Wales and Scotland.

Matthew Halliday, Bradford Brewery managing director, said: “Obviously we had high hopes when we launched the business a year ago, but it’s been beyond our wildest dreams.

“We are certain this is just the beginning though, for Bradford Brewery and for our amazing city, and we’re really excited to be announcing even more big plans for 2016.

“What’s meant a lot to me personally has been that our business and the city itself have been growing and thriving side by side and we love playing our part in Bradford’s revival wherever we can. We couldn’t have achieved any of it without the support of Bradfordians and beer lovers and we intend to involve the local community as much as possible in helping to shape our future ventures.”

David Craig, of David Craig Design Consultancy, which worked on the brewery's Westgate base, added|: “We are excited getting stuck into designing an interior for The New Packhorse site. It’s so good to see people’s confidence in Bradford continue to grow and news of further investment should hopefully keep up the momentum of the city’s independent renaissance.”
