HOUSEBUILDER Barratt Developments, which includes Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, said it has invested more than £50 million in the Yorkshire economy over the past 12 months by working with locally-based sub-contractors and suppliers.
The company said it had worked with with 100 Yorkshire-based suppliers and sub-contractors. It has increased the number of homes it has built by 10 per cent and has plans in place for more than 350 homes to be built over the next six months.
Barratt said it would continue to support sub-contractors and suppliers across a number of industries, including civil engineering, brickwork and plumbing and heating.
The company is holding a one-day conference this month to update key partners on the current market. Martin Purdy, commercial director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West division, said: “It’s no secret that if the house building sector experiences a boost in terms of demand then we are able to work more closely with suppliers and subcontractors. Our conference is planned to be a day where we can share the successes of the past 12 months.”
