Bradford and Leeds law firm Gordons has been appointed by the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service to provide employment law services following a competitive tender process.

It will see the firm undertake project work and tribunal representation for the London-based public body, which is the voice of children in the family courts and helps ensure their welfare is put first during proceedings.

Cafcass was set up in 2001 under the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act and is a non-departmental organisation, accountable to Justice Secretary Chris Grayling. It is the largest employer of social workers in England and is independent of the courts, social services, education or health authorities and all similar agencies.

Paul Stokey, Gordons partner and head of employment, said: “It is a privilege to work with Cafcass. They are a premier public sector body and do a fantastic job safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.”
