For the Bradford Means Business Awards 2013, we want to find the best small or medium enterprise in the district.
For the Small or Medium Enterprise of the Year category, our panel will be looking for businesses with a turnover of up to £50 million and/or 250 employees which show strong financial performance, good staff and customer care, and which demonstrate a real potential for future success.
We’ll also be looking at what kind of positive impact they've had on the community.
We need to see evidence of outstanding organisation, excellent financial returns, strong growth and innovative strategies.
Your submission might include details of principal products and services, any obstacles faced and over-come, and strategies for future growth and develop-ment.
Although this is a new category for this year, in the 2012 awards we did have a small business of the year, which was won by Approach PR.
Verity Hudson, senior account manager at the award-winning firm, said of the five-strong public relations team – which works with clients including Delifrance UK Ltd, kitchen manufacturer ALNO and Steeton-based Acorn Stairlifts: “We’re really like a family. There’s a fantastic atmosphere in the office – we love working together and we see each other socially. When we sat down and thought about our team, we came up with the line ‘together great things happen’, and that is something we bring to our clients.”
This category is sponsored by supermarket giant Morrisons. Morrisons started as a Bradford market stall in 1899 and has grown into the UK’s fourth-largest food retailer, with 455 stores.
Uniquely, Morrisons sources and processes most of the fresh food it sells through its own manufacturing facilities, giving it close control over provenance and quality; and it has more people preparing more food in store than any other retailer.
Every week, nine million customers pass through the doors, and 132,000 colleagues across the business work hard each day to deliver great service to them. With competitive prices and hundreds of spe-cial offers, Morrisons says it is proud to save customers money every day.
Where possible, it sources locally and manufactures in its own sites.
