Mums and their toddlers are being called to crank up their cycle exercise around Keighley.
Voluntary cycling project Crank it Up is providing special bikes and baby seats for mothers to take hassle-free exercise with their young children.
They hope to begin the off-road cycle rides around local beauty spots once they have received reaction to the proposal from local mothers. Chris Evans, chairman of Crank it Up, said: "Cycling is a great way to get out with young children, meet new people and have fun while enjoying exercise.
"Some types of exercise mean that mum's have to arrange someone to look after their young children while they take part.
"Thanks to Keighley Town Council we have been able to add to our exercising bikes and buy child seats and child trailers, which means that mum's can exercise and meet new people while having their children with them."
Mum Emma Hill has used a bike with a child seat and child trailer with her children Stan, four, and Robyn, two. Mrs Hill said: "Robyn and Stan really like the baby seat and child trailer, in fact, once we had been for a ride they did not want to get out! I am a keen cyclist but cycling with the trailer was new to me and I found it surprisingly easy to use and will definitely use them."
Any mothers in the Keighley area interested in the Crank it Up scheme should phone 07835 840989 or e-mail crank-it-up@hotmail.com.
