Royal fans honour jubilee

Fans used by royalty throughout the centuries are currently on display at the Fan Museum, Greenwich.

In honour of this year's Golden Jubilee, the museum has put on show some of its most interesting fans with royal connections.

The exhibition attempts to show the extent to which fans have been used as a status symbol by royalty and how royalty was made accessible to a wider public via commemorative fans.

Some of the exhibits have been borrowed from the Queen's collection, two were lent by the late Queen Mother, and three by Queen Margarethe of Denmark.

- Royal Fans, The Fan Museum, Crooms Hill, Greenwich, until July 7, Tues-Sat 11am-5pm, Sun noon-5pm, £3.50/£2.50, 020 8305 1441.
