Get us back on track, council

Once again the council tax increase this year exceeds the current inflation rate and the following paragraph may, to some extent, explain why.

Some weeks ago, along with other members, I was walking around the athletics track at a local sports centre, observed by a woman none of us knew.

She approached our instructor and said she was from the council. She told us not to walk along the two inside lanes. According to her, resultant wear would then be evenly spread across the entire track surface.

Is it not time for a bit of downsizing among those who produce such bureaucracy? Why should taxes rise excessively, year on year, to pay for it?
