RECENT signing Andy Welsh hopes to get the chance to make his Farsley debut on Saturday when his new club host Droylsden in Evo-Stik Division One North.

Former Sunderland, Blackpool and Scunthorpe United midfielder Welsh completed his move to Throstle Nest on the day that Farsley’s home game against promotion rivals Bamber Bridge was postponed.

He was ineligible for the West Riding County Cup quarter-final tie against neighbours Bradford Park Avenue two days later, and last Saturday’s trip to Clitheroe was also postponed.

Saturday's game is huge for the Villagers as they are currently two places below Droylsden.

Neil Parsley’s men lost their place in the play-off zone after last weekend’s inactivity and are itching to reclaim a top-five placing. If they can do it against fourth-placed Droylsden it will be a big lift.

Rivals Brighouse Town host Harrogate Railway Athletic, knowing that they cannot move into the top ten, even with a win. But they would put pressure on Burscough and Mossley, who are just above them in the table.

The Railwaymen have Farsley in their sights and know that if they win and Parsley’s men slip up they would leapfrog them. Harrogate are only three points off the play-off places themselves so are looking to mount a promotion challenge.
