BRIGHOUSE Town appear to have found their feet in the Evo-Stik League in rapid time.

They have won both of their Division One North games since promotion but face a tough couple of games over the Bank Holiday weekend.

They travel to Clitheroe today and then host old friends Scarborough Athletic two days later.

Brighouse chairman Ray McLaughlin said: "We don't know anything about this higher league but we do know some of the clubs that are our counterparts.

"We are paired up with Scarborough Athletic for the Bank Holiday fixtures and we're quite pleased about that.

"They were rivals of ours in the Northern Counties East League when we were both challenging for promotion.

"They beat us to it but the first year they were up they were in Division One South. They have switched for this season, so they are new to it like us in a way.

"Farsley we know all about and have played friendlies and West Riding Cup ties against down the years. They were a season in our division after they lost their place in the Conference North and had to reform.

"Then there are the two Ossett clubs, who are close to us.

"We have a very good relationship with Scarborough – but we get on well with all of the Yorkshire clubs and I think that's important."

McLaughlin is playing down the superb start that Brighouse have enjoyed and points to the 40 league games to come.

"We have had a bit of a taster and the teams we played in those two games were a good indicator for us because they were clubs that we will have to battle for points against," he said.

"There are a lot of much bigger clubs, or clubs with much bigger budgets, that we will have to play. It's all brand new to Brighouse Town, so it's difficult to guess how we will do.

"It will take half a dozen to ten games to settle down, so we might have a better idea early next month.

"But you can't afford to sit back and just let things happen because ten games is a quarter of the season. That's why Paul (Quinn – manager) has got the lads ready for it from day one."
