These fish are taking worms and chasing spinners. Thruscross: Wild brown trout are feeding in the shade as terrestrials are blown onto the water.

Fewston: Trout have been unpredictable as hot sun pushes them deep, only to see small brownies feeding under trees. Swinsty: Perch and bream have fished well in the warm water as trout sit deep again. Thruscross: Wild brown trout continue to feed on a morning below the willows and in shallow water.

BRADFORD No1 AA

Kara Sugden won Saturday's junior match at Raskelf with 22lb 12oz of F1s, fishing in temperatures of up to 33 degrees. Second place went to Charlie Pashley, who caught 15lb 1oz of crucians and skimmers, while the under-11s competition was won by Reilly O'Hara with a net of mainly F1s for 14lb 10oz. The aggregate weight trophy for the two junior matches went to Harry Sandham, who caught a total of 34lb 4oz. Sunday's officials' match at Maunby on the River Swale was won by Simon Freer with a net of silver fish weighing 5lb 14oz. Geoff Bass and Howard Foster tied for second place with 4lb 9oz, while Bass won the biggest fish trophy with a chub weighing 4lb. The aggregate weight trophy for the officials' matches was won by Foster with a total of 71lb 1oz. Some sections of the River Calder will be closed on Sunday for the third round of the Calder League. Knotford is fishing very well, with catches of carp over 20lb and tench and bream over 6lb being reported. Members are reminded that gates must be closed at all times.

LISTERHILLS AA

It came as a shock to learn of the death of John Funnell, known to Pilley's regulars as JB, at the age of just 32. Sympathies are extended to his family. No fish should be kept for long periods in keep nets, particularly in these spells of hot weather. For Sunday's members match at Pilley's, the gate will be open at 8.30am with the draw at 8.45am. The evening match was won by A Tabiner with a single carp caught minutes before the end weighing 7lb 10oz. Second was A Rhodes (1lb 4oz) and third J Harrison (10oz). The draw for next Tuesday's match is at 5.45pm. The annual Leeds-Liverpool Canal Open Championship at Rodley is on Saturday, August 9. Bookings are also been taken for the members' match at Ulleskelf on August 17.

The River Aire continues to fish well despite low water, with good reports from all lengths this week. Members are reminded that the closing date for entries for the new Bruce Howard Specimen Trophy is October 31. Our next match is on Sunday, August 17. We hope to announce the venue next week.
