JOE Arundel has vowed that the Bulls will not go down without a fight as they head into Sunday’s crunch showdown at Huddersfield.

The on-loan Hull centre was handed his first opportunity under Jimmy Lowes during last Friday’s heavy defeat at St Helens.

He played his part in a vastly-improved second-half display which saw him score one of the Bulls’ four tries during a vibrant fifteen-minute spell.

Although the result left Bradford on the brink of relegation from Super League, Arundel is eyeing a strong end to the campaign.

The 22-year-old, who progressed through the ranks at Castleford, looks set to be involved again on Sunday.

He said: “The boys got rollicked at half-time last week and Jimmy gave it to them because obviously it wasn’t acceptable to be losing by that much, especially with the talent we’ve got in the team.

“In the second half, I thought you saw the real Bradford – we scored a few tries and we’re a good team when we throw the ball about.

“It was nice to score my first try for the club. I got there before Danny Williams, so it gets me off the nudey run!

“It’s always good to get on the scoresheet but I didn’t really have to work too hard for it.

“We need to take that second-half performance against Saints into the Huddersfield game because they are beatable.”

Arundel has been in and out since joining the Bulls along with Hull team-mate Jay Pitts in April in a loan deal until the end of the season.

A hand injury has also hampered his progress but he declared: “I want to prove to Jimmy that I deserve to play in the rest of the games.

“As a group of players, we’ve spoken about finishing the season strongly.

“We’ve got a tough period coming up with games against Wigan and Leeds but we’re not going to roll over and die.

“We’ll start with Huddersfield this week and we’re going to make it as hard as possible for our opponents.

“I think that’s our goal – not to give up, even though it might all be over after this week.”

Arundel is enjoying life at Bradford and, although he has two years remaining on his contract at Hull, it remains to be seen whether he is in Lee Radford’s plans.

He added: “I haven’t talked about anything like that just yet but, as things stand, I’m going back to Hull.

“Every player wants to prove a point at the highest level possible.

“Hull have signed a few decent players for next year but I want to get my spot back.

“I need to concentrate on being here at the minute and that’s what I’m going to do.

“I’m a Bradford Bulls player right now and it will be upsetting if we lose because obviously the club has a lot of history.

“Jimmy has come in and changed the regime and I’m sure the club will be back stronger next year to get back in Super League.”

Dale Ferguson remains troubled by injury and will not be fit to face his former club this weekend.

Head coach Lowes said: “Dale still isn't right; it's a game he would have loved to play in.

“He was flying in training but he's picked up another niggle which has set him back another couple of weeks.

“That tends to happen to players who have picked up some nasty injuries; when you get close to competing again you get another little setback.

“Something else happens all the time, and although he won't be far off he won't be playing this week."
