Bradford Bulls players make good first impression on Jimmy Lowes
NEW Bulls boss Jimmy Lowes got a warm welcome from his players on his first day at the office yesterday.
The head coach hit the ground running at the Bulls’ training headquarters as preparations began for Sunday’s trip to Warrington.
Lowes met his squad for the first time and was left impressed with their attitude and the facilities at Tong.
He said: “It was good to meet the players and they seem like a good bunch.
“I had been to Tong before when Steve McNamara was at the Bulls and it's certainly a very good facility.
“The pitches, dressing rooms and the gym are excellent and it was great to get to know the lads.
“Generally in rugby, if you go to a new club, 99.9 per cent of players are very welcoming. Everyone here has been great.”
Lowes’ first game in charge of the Bulls will be against the club where he had his only previous spell as a Super League head coach.
He added: “Warrington are a good side and if you give them opportunities they will take them.
“They did that in the Challenge Cup game but, just because there is no pressure on us, it will still be a very tough encounter.
“We’ll put pressure on ourselves and there’s no such thing as a no-pressure game.”
Lowes has yet to appoint an assistant but Oldham coach Scott Naylor is not thought to be in the running.
