DAVID Brook is a happy man.

The Bradford motor-cyclist is not halfway through his Thundersport GB Superstock season on a new bike but is already agonisingly close to the podium

Improvements to the chassis of his Arkoni Ltd ZX10 certainly paid dividends at Cadwell Park, and it even rained so that the Clayton Heights resident could successfully set up his bike for both the wet and dry.

Traditionally poor in qualifying, Brook dropped his personal best by 2.4 seconds to 1min 35.5sec and came sixth, getting a tow from the front group and finding good lines around the Lincolnshire track.

A seventh-place finish in race one was achieved without any alarms, boosted by Brook posting his fastest lap on the final circuit.

Knowing that he also had the stamina over a technical and tiring arena, he improved his best lap in race two the following day to 1min 33.9sec as he finished fourth.

Bucking his usual trend of fading in the last race, he went four-tenths quicker in his best lap of race three, consistently quick lap times enabling Brook to again come fourth but this time only 0.9sec off third place.

Brook said: "I was over the moon with the result, and to be so close to the podium on a new bike before the halfway point in the season is a real confidence boost, and I can't wait for Oulton Park this weekend as it’s a local' round and I hope to have plenty of support."
