FARSLEY boss Neil Parsley has given his recruitment drive a huge boost with the captures of Marcus Edwards and Lewis Morgan.

Parsley had two key roles to fill but the signings of Edwards, who was Eccleshill United’s top scorer last season, and promising young Morgan from Thackley will strengthen his squad.

The news of their arrival at Throstle Nest comes hot on the heels of four of last season’s regulars committing to the club.

Skipper Robbie O’Brien led the way by re-signing for the coming campaign, while defender Matt Dempsey and strikers Aiden Savory and Adam Priestley have also put pen to paper.

The club missed out on the play-offs in Evo-Stik Division One North last term by just four points.

Edwards hit 44 goals last season on his way to becoming the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One’s top marksman.

He fired in 29 league goals and added 15 in cup competitions, three of which were against Farsley as Eccleshill sent Parsley’s men spinning out of the West Riding County Cup in the second round.

The Eagles beat Farsley 4-2, Priestley netting both goals for the visitors.

Edwards even bagged the winner in the final as Eccleshill triumphed against the odds by beating Conference North outfit Harrogate Town at Valley Parade.

Morgan is a versatile young player who had a very good season as a central midfielder. However, former Leeds United and Rochdale centre back Mark Jackson – one of Parsley’s two assistants – has identified central defence as Morgan’s best position.

The versatile Morgan was impressed with the Farsley management when they held talks with him and he shares their vision regarding his own development.

Parsley lost two of last season’s stalwarts when striker Lee Ellington retired and centre back Paddy Miller moved to Conference North outfit Bradford Park Avenue.

In Edwards and Morgan, the Farsley boss could well have found ideal replacements.
