Holders Old Otliensians missed a late penalty goal as they were defeated in a tight-fought Spray Plant (UK) Ltd Aire-Wharfe Cup final last night.

Otliensians got off to a good start and scored three converted tries in the first half through Luke Cowdell (2) and Joe Hatton.

West Park kept in touch with four penalties and closed the gap to two points when they were awarded a penalty try which they also converted.

A fifth penalty goal by Jake Duxbury gave West Park the lead. In the closing minutes Kristian Keinhorst had a kick at goal to win the game for Otliensians, but he was off target with the penalty.
