Manager Mark Bower is urging his Guiseley players to “get the job done” when they take on Gloucester City at Nethermoor on Saturday.

The Lions need one point to secure their place in the Skrill North promotion play-offs after being held to a 1-1 draw at Workington on Monday.

Guiseley are currently three points ahead of in-form Boston who visit Worcester — but the Lincolnshire side have a superior goal difference.

“It’s up to us now,” said Bower. “We have our destiny in our own hands and don’t have to rely on any other results.

“It is up to us to get the job done and clinch a place in the top five.”

Bower is aware that his squad are feeling the effects of a hectic schedule which has seen them play 17 games in 55 days, but he believes they can muster another big effort.

“What they have achieved in recent weeks has been fantastic,” he said.

“It is incredible that we have 75 points, are just seven behind leaders Telford, but we are not even guaranteed a play-off place.

“That illustrates just how competitive the league has been this season. There are no easy games as we found out at Workington.

“They gave us a tough game and they almost snatched a winning goal at the end.

“I was stood right behind the line of the lad’s shot and I must admit that I thought it was going in.

“Thankfully, it curved away from goal at the end.

“The point we secured could yet prove to be crucial.”
