A MINUTE'S silence will be observed outside City Hall tomorrow to mark one week since the attack at the Palace of Westminster which claimed four lives and led to the shooting dead of a knifeman.

At 2.30pm, people have been urged to gather outside City Hall to reflect, mourn, pray and express their love and solidarity with the four who were murdered by Khalid Masood and the 50 others who were injured by him as all those traumatised by what they saw.

At 2.45pm a minutes silence will be held, simultaneously observed by gatherings all around the country under the slogan #WeStandTogether. The event will end at 3pm.

Bradford West MP Naz Shah, who was not in London when the attack occurred, will be attending a similar event on Westminster Bridge itself but sent a message of support to those gathering in Bradford.

She said: “The gathering in Centenary Square tomorrow will give the people of Bradford, those of faiths and those with none, an opportunity to express their grief and solidarity with the victims of last week’s attack.

“This is about love, compassion and support, nothing more, nothing less. There will be no speeches and there is no lead organisation.

“People may choose to wear ribbons, badges of peace, light candles or just stand in quiet reflection. The purpose of coming together at this time is to simply show that #WeStandTogether.”

“As a member of the Metropolitan Police’s national discussion group set up following the attack, the importance of collective opportunities for people to gather, share and mourn has been discussed and is well understood.”
