AN electrical fault is believed to have caused a lamppost to catch fire in Bradford.
The fire broke out at Parkside Road, West Bowling, at around 10pm yesterday.
Firefighters could not spray water on the live wires, so they had to stand by and watch as it burnt itself out.
A spokesman said: “We just stayed and watched it, because there’s not a right lot you can do.”
The fire caused a plastic casing around the lamp to fall to the ground, which the crew from Odsal fire station quickly extinguished.
They then handed over to the highways team at Bradford Council, which will be making the repairs.
