POLICE are investigating after they spotted a man riding a quad bike, with his three-year-old daughter on the machine with him.

An officer from the nuisance bike team saw the 19-year-old dad, racing around busy streets in East Bowling on a small child’s quad bike, with his child perched in front of him.

Police said the rider paid no attention to corners and junctions. He eventually stopped for the officer on the junction of Paley Road and Rayleigh Street.

Once he found that the officer was seizing the quad bike he refused his details and walked away with his young daughter. The event was videoed by the officer and when identified the rider will most likely be summonsed to court.

PC Dave Hudson, of the bike team, said: “He was totally okay with the fact that racing round the streets with his young daughter on the front was acceptable.

"Can we stop and think for one moment as to the injuries she would have received if it all went horribly wrong. We’re hoping our intervention may have helped to prevent a tragedy on the roads.”

Anyone experiencing similar anti-social behaviour in their area should contact the bike team, confidentially, on 101, or 999 if there is a threat to life or serious circumstances. The team also have an email address of bradforddistrictasbbiketeam@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
