A REGISTERED sex offender has been jailed for eight months for failing to tell police he had changed his Bradford address.

Dieter Thorp, 47, was convicted of failing to comply with the terms of his Sexual Offences Prevention Order following a trial at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on December 16 last year.

The breaches occurred between January 14 and October 21, 2014.

He had been forced to register as a sex offender for life after being convicted for buggery in 1996.

Prosecutor Jon Gregg yesterday told Bradford Crown Court that Thorp had given his address to police on September 14 as Fagley Terrace, Fagley, Bradford.

When officers visited the address on October 16, its occupant said Thorp hadn't lived there for some time.

He was arrested on October 28, and told police he had moved in with his brother following an argument with the householder.

Sarah-Kate McIntyre, for Thorp, now of Bankwell Fold, Wibsey, Bradford, said her client had led a "chaotic and nomadic life", but was making progress since meeting his new partner.

Sentencing him, Judge Jonathan Rose said: "I have lectured you on this order many times before, and those lectures fall on deaf ears.

"You think you are entitled to breach the order as and when you please.

"I am going to ram home the message. You will go to prison for eight months."
