PUPILS at a Bradford school put on their trainers to raise funds from a sponsored walk.

A group of 90 children, aged six and seven, at Horton Grange Primary School took part in the walk as part of a school project.

All of the Spencer Road school's three year two classes were also given sponsorship forms to raise more money for the charity.

They helped raise the cash for the 'When You Wish Upon a Star' charity, which aims to grant the wishes of children living with a life-threatening illness.

The project has been held over the last five weeks as part of its personal, social and health education (PSHE) classes.

In these classes, the children looked at how charity's raise money and a representative from the cause held an assembly to explain to them the work they do.

Staff have yet to count all of the proceeds raised from the project but aim to get £200.

Teacher Clare Burton said: "The walk went well, the children really enjoyed it.

"The children have been learned about what a charity do and where the money goes. They now understand enterprise.

"The walk is the finale to the project. We walked for around half-an-hour near the school."
