TWO businesses in the Bradford district were today included in a Government report "naming and shaming" employers who failed to pay their workers the National Minimum Wage.

The list identifies 92 companies owing £1,873,712 in arrears, covering sectors including hairdressing, social care, hospitality, and security services.

The report stated that Louisa Horner, trading as The Beauty Specialist, in Cross Hills, Keighley, had failed to pay £2,807.13 to two employees.

Golden Financial Solutions Ltd in Northgate, Bradford, was said to have failed to pay £852.15 to six employees.

Neither company responded to a request for a comment from the Telegraph & Argus last night.

Since the scheme was introduced in October 2013, 490 employers have been named and shamed, with total arrears of more than £3 million and total penalties of more than £1.1m.

On October 1 last year, the National Minimum Wage for adults over the age of 21 rose to £6.70.

Business Minister Nick Boles (pictured) said the 92 companies in today's list had been thoroughly investigated by HM Revenue & Customs.

"As a one-nation Government on the side of working people, we are determined that everyone who is entitled to the National Minimum Wage receives it.

"There is no excuse for not paying staff the wages they’re entitled to.

"Our policy of naming and shaming employers who ignore the law means there are consequences for their reputation as well as their wallets.

"In April we will introduce a new National Living Wage which will mean a pay rise of over £900-a-year for someone working full time on the minimum wage, and we will enforce this equally robustly."
