A BRADFORD vicar has been given a “job for life” by the city’s new bishop, the Right Reverend Toby Howarth.
The Rev Sue Shrine, who is pictured above with Bishop Toby, has been priest-in-charge of Holy Trinity, Queensbury, since 2010.
She has now been made incumbent of the parish, which traditionally gives the parish priest lifelong tenure.
The parish includes the former Black Dyke Mill and is still the home of the world famous Black Dyke Mills Band – which supports the church each year with a Christmas concert. The Archdeacon of Bradford, the Venerable David Lee said: “Sue has done a magnificent job building the confidence and spiritual depth of the congregation.
“This encouragement has led to the decision to appoint Sue as the incumbent to continue to build on these foundations.”
