HOSPITAL worker Tracy Cliffe had a lotto luck when she won this sporty car in a top prize draw.

The 48-year-old who lives at Mountain, Queensbury, works as a health care support worker with the Children’s Continuing Care Team at St Luke’s Hospital and is now the proud owner of a metallic black Audi A1 Sport 1.4 after winning the Christmas prize in the NHS staff 50:50 lottery, a scheme run by Bradford Hospitals Charity.

Mrs Cliffe is just one of around 3,000 NHS staff from Bradford Teaching Hospitals and Bradford District Care Trust who take part in the lottery which has raised £500,000 for good causes and another £500,000 in membership prizes over its 20-year history.

Staff buy chances at £1 on pay days and cash prizes of £1,000 are handed out every month as well as a holiday every summer.

Mrs Cliffe said she was shaking when she heard the news and added: “I couldn’t believe it – I’ve never won anything like this before!”

Husband Geoff, 50, who cares for their autistic sons Ben, 20, and Robert, 18, was at the prize presentation so he could drive it home, leaving his wife at work with their Freelander.

The couple have decided to make Christmas come early for their 22-year-old trainee teacher daughter Samantha and plan to hand her the Audi’s keys.

Mrs Cliffe said: “She’s driving an old banger round at the moment so we thought it would be nice for her to have a good car for when she gets her first teaching job.”
