A DOG-owner has been left distraught and devastated after nine of her pets - worth together an estimated £10,000 - were stolen from kennels outside her Bradford house.

Thieves cut through padlocks to take three pugs and six French Bulldogs from a property in Greengates.

The homeowner's son was in the house at the time of the theft, which happened at some point between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday.

The son, who did not want to be named, said: "My mum has been working with dogs and breeding them for ten years. Her world revolves around them. The dogs come first for her - she is absolutely distraught and devastated."

He added: "I did not hear anything. These dogs are tied to us emotionally, and they are also high-value - at least £10,000."

The dogs, which vary in age between four months and four years, were kept in two kennels. One of them had three female French bulldogs in, while the other had three pugs – one male and two female – and three female French bulldogs.

"The last time I saw the dogs was about 6pm," said the son. "I went outside to clean them. The kennels are padlocked with good quality padlocks.

"I went back outside at 8pm to check on them and noticed the kennels were open, the padlocks were missing, and so were the dogs."

One of the dogs, Mini, a female French bulldog has a skin condition which requires daily treatment, he added.

Mini also has bald patches on her back from the skin condition and a white marking on her chest. Fibi, a French bulldog, has a scar from a past C-section and a white marking on her chest. Another French bulldog, Kitty, has a scar from a past C-section and white narrow stripe on her head and white marking on her chest. Bandi the pug has a distinctive curly tail.

The son said that he believed the thieves could have entered the house's garden from a building site behind the property because a fence had been damaged and there were footprints.

Police confirmed they are investigating the theft.
