A DRIVER, unused to his new car, lost control on a bend and hit a dry stone wall, a court heard.
Daniel Meredith, 21, was driving the Mazda 3 at around 10.30pm on July 22 in Sutton-in-Craven, near Keighley, when the wheels went into a ditch and he lost control, Skipton Magistrates Court was told.
The car was later towed away from Pole Road by the AA.
Meredith, who admitted driving without due care and attention and failing to report an accident, had suffered a momentary lack of concentration, the court heard.
Meredith, of High Street, Steeton, had his licence endorsed with five penalty points and was fined £205 for the more serious charge of failing to report an accident. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victims surcharge of £21.
There was no separate penalty for the careless driving offence.
