FULNECK School pupil Jennie Roberts is celebrating after clinching third place in a gruelling two-day national windsurfing competition.
The 13-year-old, who races in the 3.5m sail fleet, was also the third fastest female at the end of the event in a field of more than 40 competitors after competing in 11 races in the Royal Yachting Association and UK Windsurfing Association Inland National Championships, held at Rutland Sailing Club.
More than 200 competitors participated in the event on Rutland Water including the RYA Junior, Youth & Masters events, as well as the Inland National Championships and the Champions Cup.
Fulneck School principal Deborah Newman said: “This is a great achievement for Jennie as her podium finish was somewhat unexpected.
“We are very proud of her efforts and this is a worthy reward for her hard work and training over the past few years.”
