A WOMAN appeared in court today, accused of assisting a man who is charged with attempted murder.

Hasan Khan, 24, of Newlands Avenue, Fagley, Bradford, has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of 22-year-old mother Ashleigh McPherson - who suffered two gunshot wounds to her stomach during an incident at her home in Longfield Drive, East Bowling, Bradford, on the afternoon of Friday, May 16 - and is due to face trial at Bradford Crown Court on October 27.

Today, 25-year-old Ann-Marie Pulford made a first appearance at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court, on a charge of assisting Khan.

It was alleged that, between May 15 and 18 this year, at various locations in West Yorkshire and Lancashire, Pulford transported Khan to Blackpool and supplied petrol to him, in order to destroy forensic evidence, with intent to impede the apprehension or prosecution of him.

Pulford, who was dressed in black and had pink painted nails, spoke to confirm her name, address and date of birth during the four-minute hearing. She nodded when asked if she understood the charge.

Prosecutor Vincent O'Malley said the offence was indictable only and asked for the case to be sent to the crown court.

Pulford will next appear at Bradford Crown Court on October 14. She was granted bail on condition that she lives and sleeps at an address in Blackpool, reports twice weekly to Blackpool police, and observes a curfew between 9pm and 6am.
