AN OPEN day in Keighley was just the ticket for bus enthusiasts.

The town's Bus Museum Trust opened its doors to the public for the last time this season.

And on show alongside the trust's classic collection was a brand new bus just introduced in West Yorkshire.

The modern-day version of the iconic London Routemaster was provided for the open day by First Bus, which sponsored the event.

"We took the opportunity to use our preserved AEC Regent Leeds 139 – dating from 1934 – alongside the new bus and posed the latest vehicle next to our own Routemaster," said Chris Whiteoak, for the trust.

"The new bus is nicknamed a Borismaster after Boris Johnson, who as the mayor of London pushed the concept of a replacement Routemaster."

West Yorkshire is the first area outside the capital to take delivery of the new vehicle.

The open day has been hailed a success by organisers.

As well as opening up its Riverside Depot, off Dalton Lane, the trust also operated two circular bus services – one linking the museum with Ingrow Station and The Livery Rooms, and the other with the Airedale Heifer at Sandbeds and East Riddlesden Hall.
