A BRADFORD cat rescue centre is appealing for volunteers and donations after vet bills for a single kitten topped the £1,000 mark last month.

The cat, Eric, was savaged by a dog and forced to have his tail removed as a result of the attack, which also left him with two broken legs.

His latest operation, on August 26, has been hailed a success, but he is one of 78 cats currently being cared for by the 15 volunteers at Bradford Cat Watch Rescue, which rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes more than 400 cats every year.

Centre coordinator Katie Lloyd said: "We give every animal the chance to get themselves healthy regardless of the time commitment, effort or financial implications incurred, and Eric's story is testament to this as he has received 24 hour nursing care by one of our volunteers tending to his every need."

Anyone able to support the centre can contact Katie on 07942 822509.
