OFFICIALS are liaising with authorities in Poland in a bid to identify a badly-burned man who died after being found on fire on playing fields in Bradford.

The dead man is thought to be a 30-year-old from Poland but has no relatives in the UK, and police are in contact with the Polish Embassy in a bid to establish who he is.

The victim was seen engulfed in flames on playing-fields off Summerville Road, Lidget Green, at 4.30am last Friday. Two witnesses, returning home from work, saw the horror and raised the alarm.

The man was taken by ambulance to the burns unit of Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield, but died from his injuries later the same day. Police say no other person was involved.

A spokesman for the Bradford coroner said it was hoped to open an inquest later this week.
