AN author who grew up in Bradford has recounted the campaigns of the Desert Air Force during the Second World War in his latest book.

Bryn Evans, who is now based in Australia, has written ‘The Decisive Campaigns of the Desert Air Force 1942-1945’.

The book reveals the exploits in the global conflict of the Desert Air Force (DAF).

The role of the DAF in the North African and Italian campaigns was pivotal in changing the course of the war, including some of their Yorkshire Spitfire pilots.

DAF was an Allied tactical air force initially created from number 204 Group under RAF Middle East Command in North Africa in 1941 to provide close air support to the British Eighth Army.
