MEMBERS of two of the top indie bands of the noughties will form a supergroup at Bingley Music Live to honour the man who helped them find fame.

Dave McCabe of The Zutons and Ian Skelly of The Coral will perform on stage together at next weekend's festival.

The late addition to the line-up will be a tribute to Alan Wills, the man who founded the Liverpool-based Deltasonic record label and signed the bands, both of which have played at the Myrtle Park festival in previous years.

Mr Wills, who started his musical career as drummer for Shack, died in May aged 52 following a cycling accident.

Organisers of Bingley Live, the district's biggest music festival, have now decided to award him a posthumous lifetime achievement award, which will be accepted by McCabe.

The musicians will appear on the opening night, performing a special, one off set. McCabe is currently recording material for a solo album, and the set will be a mix of that material, The Zutons greatest hits and Coral songs. The pair will be joined by other musicians, who have yet to be announced.

The Zutons' were responsible for hits like You Will, You Won't, Pressure Point, and their music will even be familiar to those who have never listened to an indie record - their most popular song Valerie was covered by Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson.

The Coral were regularly found near the top of the charts in the early 2000s, releasing such indie disco classics as Pass It On and Dreaming of You.

Held in the park over three days, this year's festival will be headlined by electro pop pioneers Pet Shop Boys and home grown, chart topping rap star Example. Other bands appearing include 90s indie stars Shed Seven, producer and dance artist Naughty Boy, hotly tipped Welsh rockers Catfish and the Bottlemen and Gorgon City. Elsewhere on the line up Gaz Coombs from Supergrass plays a solo set and members of Ocean Colour Scene will play stripped back versions of some of their biggest hits.

The festival even has the changeover sets covered with DJ sets from Ultimate Power, Pet Sounds, Joel Young and legendary music journalist Simon Price, while Goldblade frontman John Robb will compere the event.

Weekend tickets to the festival, which runs Friday, August 29 to Sunday, August 31, cost £49, and day tickets are also available.
