CONTINGENCY firefighters were called out twice in Bradford district during the latest three periods of strike action.
Members of the Fire Brigades Union walked out between 10.59pm and 11.59pm on Friday, and from 12 midday to 2pm and 10.59pm to 11.59pm on Saturday, as part of a long-running nationwide row over pensions.
The two calls in the Bradford district came on Saturday afternoon - a fire alarm on Nelson Street, Bradford, that turned out to be a false alarm, and a hoax call.
A handful of calls were received by contingency firefighters across West Yorkshire during the strike periods.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer Steve Beckley said: "We are at the end of this current period of Fire Brigades Union strike action and would like to thank the public for their efforts in taking extra care while limited resources were available.
"We hope the FBU and the Minister can resolve this dispute as quickly as possible so we can get back to our daily business of keeping West Yorkshire safe."
