A TOTAL of 60 residents from Oakenshaw gathered at the Cenotaph in Victoria Park to commemorate the village's men who lost their lives in the First World War.

The service, led by Rev Dorothy Ellis, featured all the names on the Cenotaph read out aloud. A candle of commemoration was also lit during the service.

At 10pm last night, residents gathered to light a candle for one hour as part of a nationwide lights out commemoration of the events of 100 years ago.

The event was organised by Oakenshaw Residents' Association and was also attended by Oakenshaw councillors and officials from Bradford Council.
