Members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) in Bradford and across England and Wales will strike on eight consecutive days this month after blasting the Government for a "vicious attack" on firefighters' pensions.

The strikes will take place between 6am and 8am, and 5pm and 7pm on July, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 21, with a strike from 5pm to 7pm on July 20.

On Friday and Saturday, July 18 and 19, firefighters will walk out from 6am to 8am and 11pm to 1am on the Friday, and 11am to 1pm and 11pm to 1am the following day.

Firefighters are also due to strike from 10am to 7pm this Thursday alongside local government workers, teachers and civil servants.

Matt Wrack, FBU general secretary, said: “The Government must realise that firefighters cannot accept proposals that would have such devastating consequences for their futures."

Dave Walton, of West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The short and frequent strikes mean we must review our contingency plans to ensure we provide the best service we can."
