UNSUNG health heroes in Bradford will be honoured for their hard work and dedication over the past year at a ceremony this week.

Bradford and District Care Trust will roll out the red carpet on Thursday evening to welcome about 200 guests to the Bradford Hotel - formerly the Hilton - and reveal the winners of the five award categories in its annual You're A Star Awards.

Winners will also receive £1,000 to be used within their work. The awards, in their tenth year, are sponsored by Bradford-based Sovereign Health Care.

The chairman of Bradford and District Care Trust Mike Smith said: "The You’re a Star Awards are a time to celebrate the work of outstanding individuals and teams over the last year.

"It is also an opportunity to pause and reflect on the excellent work carried out every day by many more unsung heroes across our organisation.

"Our final 15 are all worthy winners. Their dedication, enthusiasm and skill is making a real difference to the health and well-being to the people of Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven."

The five categories are Patient Experience, Value for Money, You and Your Care, Working Together and Quality. Three nominations have been shortlisted in each category and each nomination will be brought to life with a short film.

The categories are based around the Trust's values of respect, openness, improvement, excellence, and togetherness.

The Trust provides community health, mental health and social care services for people across the Bradford, Airedale and Craven areas, as well as specialist support for people with learning disabilities.

Last year's winners were: speech and language therapist Louise McChrystal; the Clinical Leads School Nursing with Accident and Emergency Liaison Nurse; the Airedale Centre Mental Health Housekeeping Team; the Trust's foot health specialists and the Trust's Human Resources Service Desk.
