Bradford East MP David Ward is taking part in an independent Parliamentary probe into the problems faced by disabled children and their families in accessing childcare.

The inquiry, co-chaired by Conservative MP Robert Buckland and Labour MP Pat Glass, is being supported by Every Disabled Child Matters (EDCM), the Family and Childcare Trust, Contact a Family and Working Families.

Mr Ward (Lib Dem) was asked to be on the panel due to his background in education matters and the work he has carried out in Bradford regarding the Government’s childcare reforms.

The inquiry’s aim is to examine the problems concerning access to childcare that affects many families with disabled children.

Mr Ward said: “This Government is working hard to provide support to working families with the high costs of childcare. However, despite the growing political will and increasing public attention childcare has received, the issue of childcare for disabled children has received comparatively little attention.”
