It was a case of War versus Peace yesterday as students took part in a traditional football match, competing for the Tolstoy Cup.
Bradford University’s peace studies students took on – and beat 3-0 – war studies students from King’s College in London in the special fixture, which was being held as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of the university’s peace studies division.
The match, held at Horsfall Stadium, is a tradition that was started in 1995. The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Khadim Hussain presented the cup to the winners.
A special three-day conference is being held this week, to mark four decades of pioneering work in the field of peace studies education at Bradford University.
