29-year-old pleads guilty to indecent exposure in Eccleshill swimming pool changing room

A 29-year-old man has admitted indecently exposing himself at a public swimming baths.

Mohammed Rehman was caught committing the offence of outraging public decency in communal showers at Eccleshill Swimming Pool on the afternoon of November 13 last year.

Rehman, of Penzance Court, Girlington, Bradford, admitted the charge on the day of his trial at Bradford Crown Court yesterday.

He had been committed to the Crown Court by magistrates charged with another similar offence, said to have taken place five days earlier in the cafe area at the Richard Dunn Sports Centre in Bradford.

Yesterday, prosecutor Mehran Nassiri said the Crown would not proceed with that alleged offence.

Rehman’s solicitor advocate, Julian White, asked for the case to be adjourned for the preparation of a report from the probation service.

Mr White said his client had no previous convictions for anything similar and investigations needed to be made into his possible health problems.

Judge John Potter reserved the case to himself, saying that although the offence was serious, Rehman did not face an immediate sentence of imprisonment.

The judge asked the probation service to look into the options of supervision and an activity requirement as part of the sentence.

He extended Rehman’s bail to the sentencing hearing on June 4, and ordered him to sign immediately on the sex offenders’ register.

Rehman, who had been swimming at Eccleshill Swimming Pool before committing the offence, was seen at about 3.30pm performing an indecent act in an open shower.

A shocked woman complained to a manager when she saw him exposed, with his swimming shorts down to his knees.

The male manager ordered Rehman to leave and blocked the view of children who were using the changing area at the time.

The police were called and he was arrested, telling officers he was simply taking a shower.
