Tenants from two retirement housing schemes found the ingredient for success in a cake decorating contest – with some help from children.

Older residents from Anchor’s Queen Elizabeth Court, in Fell Lane, Keighley, and Thornfield at Haworth created designs, with artistic assistance from Zach and Lillie Albone.

The cakes were judged by Keighley West Councillor Jan Smithies, who joined the tenants at their Easter coffee morning.

She also announced the winner of a giant chocolate egg, which was raffled in aid of Manorlands.

Queen Elizabeth Court manager Pam Hudson said the competition was part of an on-going programme of activities to boost tenants’ physical and mental well-being.

She said: “Such events are a great opportunity for tenants to socialise with friends and their families and to try out new things.”
