Students at Oasis Academy Lister Park have collected items for two food banks in Bradford.
The youngsters held a competition to see who could collect the most food items for the Intouch Foundation, which is a community-based effort to tackle the plight of homeless people in Bradford, and St Paul’s Church in Manningham.
A spokesman for the school said: “Obviously the main aim of the competition was to collect as many food items as possible to feed the poor of Bradford, but also students learning about social, moral and economic factors and also about community cohesion and harmony, making them better citizens.”
Students presented what they collected to the Reverend Alistair Helm, of St Paul’s Church, and Osman Gondal, operations manager at Intouch Foundation.
The spokesman added: “Both charities were very grateful for the gifts of food and praised the students of Oasis Academy Lister Park for their hard work and commitment to their local community.”
