Two sisters are fundraising to compete in an ice skating event in Iceland for competitors with impairments.

Hannah and Jenny Lee need £1,900 to take part in next month’s contest and so far have pulled in more than £800 through various activities, from cake sales to bag packing in supermarkets.

The girls, from Farnhill, Keighley, have taken part in international skating events at Dumfries for the past two years and won a haul of gold and silver medals, but their dream is to take to the ice in Reykjavik in the latest global event, from May 23 to 25.

Hannah, who has a rare heart condition, said: “We would love to be able to participate but obviously the costs involved in taking part this time are a little more than in previous years.”

Hannah, 20, and Jenny, 17, who is deaf and has a learning difficulty, are coached by Sarah Evans, at Bradford Ice Rink.

They will be continuing their fundraising with a bag pack today and tomorrow at Morrisons, in Keighley.
