A REWARD of £10,000 has been offered for information on the “vicious” unsolved murder of a man in a park in Bradford.

Beyake Keita Ann, 21, died in hospital from serious injuries, three weeks after he and his friends were attacked in Attock Park, Bradford Moor, as they played football on August 23 last year by a gang brandishing machetes, sticks and baseball bats.

The armed mob had been summoned to the scene by two Asian men who were involved in an altercation with the footballers after their ball hit a parked car.

Now, independent charity Crimestoppers has announced a reward of up to £10,000 for information on Mr Keita Ann’s murder that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.

Gemma Wilson, Crimestoppers’ regional manager for Yorkshire and Humberside, said: “Beyake suffered a vicious attack and we believe that someone in the community knows who did this, but may be afraid to come forward. Crimestoppers is an independent charity. We offer a safe way for people to give information.

“Contact us in complete anonymity on 0800 555111 and tell us what you know. You won’t have to give a statement to police or appear in court.”

The charity said the reward was valid for three months and people would only qualify for it if information was passed directly to Crimestoppers. Information passed directly to police would not qualify, said the charity.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Scott, of the Homicide and Major Enquiries Team (HMET), said: “We have made 21 arrests in connection with this ongoing investigation and a number of these men remain on bail as our inquiries continue.

“We would again ask for anyone who was at Attock Park on the night of Tuesday, August 23, or anyone who may have information and has not yet come forward, to tell us what they know.

“They may have that vital piece of information which will help us to solve this murder and provide Beyake’s family with the answers they need.”

Information can be passed to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or at crimestoppers-uk.org. Alternatively, call HMET on 101, quoting 13160363829.
