SCHOOLS are being invited to join Bradford City’s season ticket campaign by designing T-shirts showing what the club means to them.

The winner of the competition – which is running as part of the Bantams’ #TeamTwenty initiative to sell 20,000 season tickets for next season – will see their design made into a T-shirt that will be worn by matchday mascots.

Children in years one to six – either individually or as a class – from schools across the district have until Friday, April 7, to submit their entries.

City’s chief operating officer James Mason said: “Bradford City Football Club, as part of the Team Twenty campaign, are now asking schools across the region to get involved by entering into a competition to design a T-shirt that will be worn by the matchday mascots. We have 11 mascots that accompany players onto the pitch.

“We want schools to take part in designing a Team Twenty T-shirt. The winning design will be turned into an actual T-shirt to be worn by mascots next season.

“We are inviting schools in the West Yorkshire area to get creative. The winner will also get some match tickets, as well as being the proud owner of the winning design.

“We want people to be creative about what it should look like, whether it’s 20,000 fans, the players, manager or Valley Parade – whatever it may be about what City means to them.”

The winning design will be picked by City players on Thursday, April 27.

“The winner will be invited down to meet some of the players,” said Mr Mason.

“It could be an individual that wins it, or it could be a collective class effort.

“We are looking for the most creative design that really encapsulates our Team Twenty campaign and what being a Bradford City fan is all about.”

The club has teamed up with its community foundation for the schools’ competition, as well as an initiative to get club mascot Billy Bantam into schools next week.

Any school that would like a visit should contact bradfordcityfitc@aol.com.

Ian Ormondroyd, chief executive of the Foundation, said: “We understand that Billy Bantam is a huge draw for children and we would like to see him at as many schools as possible.”
