December 3.

Mr Stamp's predictably worn refrain in favour of a tired architectural

shell as home for a new national gallery surely deserves the contempt

that any European nation proud of its creative past and hopeful for its

future would give it (December 3).

I can think of no better way of preserving the Scottish Collections

within a European framework than by housing them in a state-of-the-art

building which enlightened spirits everywhere are going to want to know

and understand.

For many of us, Kelvingrove is the centre of Glasgow.
