December 7.

Bill Doig's letter requires some correction (December 7). Para Handy's

treasure trove was in fact washed up on Calve Island off Tobermory in

the Sound of Mull.

It was Sunny Jim who forecast that ''there's a fortune in't'' and

suggested that the ''folk of Tobermory'' might be interested in viewing

a ''dead whale'' for a small charge. This proved to be correct for a

short time until the ''beneficial influence of ozone'' became too much.

If Dougie wass here he wud tell ye! Chust so!
