HUNTLY'S Scottish Cup fortunes have provided some fond memories for

the club in recent seasons, but that ended abruptly yesterday afternoon

with the news that today's first-round replay against Albion Rovers had

fallen foul of the weather.

More significant, however, was the realisation that influential

defender Doug Rougvie will miss Monday night's rescheduled game as he

will be abroad on holiday. The former Aberdeen player's absence will

mean a major reshuffle by the Strathbogie side.

''We always knew he would be going away, but we thought he would miss

only Highland League games. To have him out for the Scottish Cup tie is

an undoubted blow,'' said manager Steve Paterson.

With an inch of ice on parts of Christie Park, Monday's tie is also in

doubt.

In the Highland League, Fraserburgh today entertain Fort William and

will again have Scott Murray in their side after the youngster had a

third inconclusive trial at Liverpool this week.

The 19-year-old striker scored the winning goal for Liverpool reserves

in his first trial match, but Anfield manager Graeme Souness was not

there to see him. A second run-out was cut short when he came off

suffering from flu, and this week he spent three days at Anfield only

for the reserves' game to be called off.

''It's a shame for the lad, but he doesn't seem bothered. I'm happy to

have him for a bit longer,'' said Fraserburgh manager Charlie Duncan.

Murray will make a fourth trip south in the new year.

Elsewhere, Cove aim to continue their league challenge against Brora

Rangers, while Caley's Charlie Christie faces a late fitness test before

the game with Keith.

Scottish Cup headline-makers Ross County have Gordon Connelly and Andy

MacLeod back from suspension for the game with Rothes, though no-one in

Dingwall is looking for a repeat of last week's 11-0 win.
