Aliens in the Attic (PG) ** Dir: John Schultz With: Carter Jenkins, Austin Robert Butler A family escapes to the countryside for their summer holiday only for the pesky kids to find ... well, it's all there in the title, isn't it?

The little green brothers and sisters from another planet bear an alarming resemblance to the Crazy Frog of ringtone infamy, and are almost as annoying as they set about fulfilling their mission of taking over the earth.

A family comedy with lots of slapstick for a young audience to enjoy, not a lot for parents other than a good joke with a dial telephone, and a running time that's just shy of 90 minutes. Always a good thing when you're catering for the short attention span crowd.

Doris Roberts (the mother-in-law from Hades in TV's Everybody Loves Raymond) comes close to stealing the picture as a Ninja grandmother. Everything else, including the special effects, is decidedly so-so.
